Firm Resources The School of Environmental Design in the College of Environment and Design at the University of Georgia is the largest and oldest landscape architecture school in the United States, offering both a Bachelor degree and Master degree in Landscape Architecture and a Master of Historic Preservation. The School has the largest and most complete faculty. There are 28 faculty with approximately 50% teaching graduate level courses. Currently enrolled are 350 BLA, 56 MLA, and 35 MHP students. Students are engaged in small studio classes with numerous resources to provide personalized instruction and guidance. The education received is distinctively broad and adaptable to the interest of the individual students. The undergraduate landscape architecture degree is a 5-year program with a requirement to complete an internship. All students have opportunities to study abroad in Cortona, Costa Rica, and Ghana as well as the recently opened Covington Studio outside Atlanta for urban studies. Graduate courses are a three-year program and also have the opportunity to receive hands on experience with the School's Center for Community Design & Preservation which is partnered with local, national, and international goverment agencies and organizations. Above providing a highly ranked educational experience, the School of Environmental Design assists students financially through graduate assistantships and approximately $70,000 of in-house scholarships from alumni, friends and organizations. Any firm interested in students from the School of Environmental Design are invited to contact us to either come on site for interviews or post a position on our site, listservs. The School hosts a Career Fair in the Spring for internships or regular employment. Firms also have the opportunity to review internship and upcoming graduate resumes from the BLA and MLA programs on-line. We also invite companies to send us information about their firms to develop student interest. Suggested information for circulation around the class rooms are portfolios and information folders. Posters are accepted. If you have any questions you may contact Gregg Coyle at 706-542-4718 for internships or Audra Lofton at 706-542-4724 for regular employment. |
