Georgia LARE Review Sessions The School of Environmental Design in conjunction with the Georgia Chapter ASLA, offer two review courses each year for practicing professionals preparing to sit for the national Landscape Architecture Registration Exam (LARE). Each of the two review courses are structured differently as outlined below.
Spring LARE Review Session The spring review session covers all five LARE sections as well as the State of Georgia Component. The spring review is geared towards practicing professionals who are preparing to take the exam for the first time or individuals who need additional assistance in preparing for particular LARE sections. The review is typically held in February at The Georgia Center for Continuing Education in Athens, Georgia and lasts for three full days.
Fall LARE Review Session The fall review session only covers the (2) graphic vignette sections of the LARE exam as well as the State of Georgia Component. This review is intended for practicing professionals who are looking for supplemental instruction towards passing the graphic vignette sections of the LARE. Attendees will receive nearly 8 hours of instruction for each of the vignette sections instead of the 4 hours allocated to each vignette section during the spring review. The fall review is typically held in Caldwell Hall in October or November and lasts for two days.
Georgia LARE Review Description Beginning in 1973, Neal Weatherly and T.G. Williams organized a comprehensive review to help practicing professionals pass what was then called the Uniform National Exam (UNE) for Landscape Architects. For over 30 years this tradition has continued and today The School of Environmental Design at The University of Georgia continues to conduct review sessions for the Landscape Architecture Registration Exam (LARE).
Today’s LARE review is based on The Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Board’s (CLARB) current job analysis survey, content outlines and book references. Each instructor prepares their review materials to specifically cover what is outlined by CLARB for each exam section. We cannot teach you everything at the review, but rather our intent is to orient you to the organization of the exam and cover as many of the subject categories as possible.
Beyond receiving instruction on exam content, participants will also learn test taking strategies and studying shortcuts. Each review participant will answer sample exam questions and/or work vignette problems that focus on the skills needed to be successful on the actual exam. Several timed practice test sessions are associated with the review.
In addition to the lecture materials, each participant will be given a separate study manual for each section that is designed to serve as a take home guide to focus their studying efforts. Upcoming Review Sessions
