The
curriculum is structured on a foundation of core classes including Preservation
Philosophy, Evolution of American Architecture, Cultural Resource Assessment,
Preservation Law, Building Materials Conservation, Preservation Advocacy,
and Preservation Planning. In addition, there are five core options
requiring selection of a course in each of the following areas: Planning,
Graphic Representation and Communication, Design, Historic Landscapes,
and Business. Also required are three elective courses chosen to
complement the individual's career focus as well as an internship of at
least eight weeks. The thesis is broken down into three components:
a one-hour thesis proposal course, five hours of research (over one or
more semesters) and three hours for thesis writing.
Time:
The MHP program is structured so that the student may complete
the program of study in two years, including both summers. New students
are admitted to the program only in the fall.
